Charlie English was born on Motherās Day in May (Taurus) of 1964 in Hawkinsville, GA. His family lived in Cochran at the time of his birth, but Cochran didnāt have a hospital and Charlieās sweet mama refused to let him be birthed at the local vet clinic. He was raised on his family farm where grew up loving agriculture, sports, and the Georgia BullDawgs. During elementary and high school, Charlie was very active in 4-H where he showed pigs, participated in District Project Achievement (DPA) projects, and participated in several livestock judging teams.Ā He was a highly decorated Pig Shower and won several state tractor driving competitions.

While in high school, Charlie lettered four years in football and baseball and played against the legendary Herschel āThe Goal Line Stalkerā Walker his Freshman and Sophomore years. His sophomore season, as the starting Center on the 1979 Bleckley County Royals football team, Herschel lined up across from Charlie. During this game, Charlie was charged with multiple holding penalties against Herschel, but the highlight of the game was when Charlie tackled Herschel after intercepting a pass. Fortunately, Charlieās bone-crushing tackle did not ruin Herschelās football career.

Charlie proudly attended the University of Georgia where he pledged Lambda Chi Alpha and in addition to his regular college courses, he also excelled in fermentation sciences.Ā

After graduation, Charlie moved to started his professional career in health care device, distribution, software, and information technology sales. He moved back to the Athens area in 2001. He has been very involved in the UGA Alumni Association and the Athens community. He served in several Offices in the Athens Area Alumni Association from 2002-13 and served as President from 2009-2013 and a Life member of the UGA Alumni Association. HeĀ volunteers locally with The Alzheimerās Association, Habitat for Humanity, and Chuckās Fish Annual Thanksgiving Feast.

His new book, Pregame Prayers and Tailgate Tales: A Damn Good Bulldawg's Road to Eternal Glory chronicles Georgia's two national championship seasons through the passionate and humorous lens of a long suffering, God fearing, brown-liquor loving season-ticket holder.Ā

Charlie has three adult children- William, Chandler, and Katherine Ann who are his pride and joy.
