Cynthia has 30+ years of experience in senior marketing and development positions with large non-profit organizations including American Cancer Society, World Vison, Women for Women International and Children International. She has achieved impressive results with various revenue models including traditional and digital mass marketing approaches as well as individual and corporate major donor engagement. She is most proud and most passionate about her work building partnerships between corporate and nonprofit entities. Her success in this area is largely based on two things. First, she applies a business mindset to all discussions. And, secondly, she believes in investing ample time to understand the unique array of needs and requirements of both internal and external audiences for each potential partnership.
Some of Cynthia’s specific career accomplishments include:
- Led and managed of individual major gift operations generating over $100 million for World Vision
- Led and managed start-up operations of major gift business units for Women for Women International and Children International.
- Managed American Cancer Society’s $40 million annual direct mail operation.
- Created monitoring systems for brand strategy development and maintenance including competitive analyses, reputation tracking, and brand valuation.
- Generated partnership relationships ranging from $250,000 to $15 million with companies including Citi, Glaxo Welcome, MetLIfe, General Mills, and Weight Watchers.
- Created and managed the corporate engagement business unit for the American Cancer Society which included development of a business plan, hire of a specialized team, and creation of support systems designed to generate $100 million in annual cash and contributed services over five years.
Cynthia chaired two national American Marketing Association Nonprofit Marketing conferences and served on the AMA Foundation Board of Trustees. She served on the local and national boards for the Institute of Management Consultants. She also served on the global board of NetHope which is a membership organization including the largest, international relief nonprofits touching over a billion people. Cynthia has lectured internationally on brand and cause marketing.
